Lesson’s Learned To Make Make Money Blogging / Money To Blog

Well I have been doing this Money to blog thing for a few years now and boy have I learned a lot. Probably one of the biggest lessons I have learned is that the “guru’s” really do not care whether you make money blogging or not. Their goal is to take your money so they can…yep…make money blogging…lol. Sorry guru’s but that is the truth, you know it and so should everybody else. Now just so we are clear I am not going to start telling you how awful those evil guru’s are just to sell you my latest tool or trick or scheme to make money blogging. In fact today’s post is about the journey I have taken over the last few months to learn how to drive traffic for free and no I am not going to fill this post with a bunch of affiliate links either.

A Journey Of Understanding To Make Money Blogging / Money To Blog

Many of you may have wondered where I have been and that is why I am going to tell you this story. I have actually been absorbing what I have learned over the last few months and how one of the dirtiest of dirty guru’s literally exploded my mind with ways of thinking I had heretofore not even considered. I think these revelations were born more out of desperation than any greater process or good. As they say necessity is the mother of invention and this has certainly turned out to be the case. So let me pick up this tale somewhere around August of last year. Stay through to the end of this post and I will reveal to you exactly how and what I am using to drive traffic. Everything I will show you is absolutely free to use and readily available. All you have to do is know where to look. That frankly is what this post is about, the main key to make money blogging is knowing where to look, not just for traffic but also for what to monetize. With that said, on with the story.

So it is August of 2011 and I have just invested a ton of money into a blog network, numbering about 300 in total. The guy I bought these blogs from had what appeared at the time to be a great way to drive traffic and monetize these blogs and I was going to get rich making money to blog. Best of all was that I was going to make money blogging on complete auto-pilot. Hah!!! Boy was I a dreaming. Six months later and many 15 hour work days later it finally became apparent, even to me, that although the guy I had bought these blogs from had the best of intentions, that there was no working model in place to make any of this happen. So now it is early 2012, mid January and the people that invested in this network with me are beginning to breath down my neck and I am slowly bleeding to death, figuratively not literally. They are wondering what happened to this auto-pilot income and so am I. Although I am still not sure what they were complaining about as they had done nothing and I was doing all the work. But that is also how it is, when you are the one with the idea and others follow you into the fray, one tends to feel a certain responsibility for their well being and I certainly did.

An Internet Hustler, A Light Bulb And Making Money To Blog

It is mid-January, I have just moved from West Chester, PA to New York City. My rent has gone from $1650.00 per month to over $3000.00 and everything is blowing up in my face. In the midst of this I meet a guy that tells me he will “hook me up” with a system that will make me $25.00 per day for each program I purchase from him. The cost for this is $175.00 every 3 months so I buy 14 of these programs, total investment $2450.00. Not only did I not make the $25.00 per day per system as promised and guaranteed but now I am in a fight with the same person to get my money back. Apparently their idea of unconditional and mine are different. Worse or as bad is the total amount of money I made was $19.00…lol.

The amazing thing about this person though is that in the midst of his larceny there is a mind of pure genius at work. Now I don’t know if it was his intention or not but since I met him and spent many hours picking his brain, my brain started to explode with ideas and my creativity soared and along with that so did my income and my ability to make money blogging. So even though this guy is trying to steal almost $2500.00 dollars from me, it is very hard for me to be upset about meeting him because of all the amazing changes that took place as a result of our meeting.

Traffic, Traffic Everywhere – Make Money Blogging / Money To Blog

I am sure you have heard it said that “Content Is King”. I am here to tell you the truth. Content is not King, traffic is. Google will tell you all day long how they love and reward unique content. That is utter nonsense. What Google cares about is traffic just like everyone else. Traffic is where they make their money. Period. They have proved this premise by announcing that they are going to place a lot more emphasis on social popularity of a website in their rankings, not content, social popularity…lol. Sorry to the Google lover out there but it is just too easy to call this company a sham. Out of one side of their mouth they talk about content quality and uniqueness but out of the other side comes the truth, only if it is popular will we rank it.

So here I am pinned in between a company that wants me to be popular, something I am not all that concerned with, to rank my sites and on the other side is the dishonesty of a corrupt industry. I felt like I was being squeezed on both sides and if one more person or company took their pound of flesh I would be completely undone. Obviously not a prospect that appealed to me. I was done with Google and done with looking for an honest mentor to teach me and show me how to do this making Money to blog thing.

What I am about to show you is my complete solution to eliminating Google from the equation for traffic and also eliminating the need to ever buy another piece of garbage software that will never work the way the guru’s promise because they lied about what it could do. Having said that, these solutions are for WordPress Blogs only and as far as I know self-hosted WordPress Blogs but if you are serious about making money blogging then you will be running self-hosted blogs anyway so here we go.

I am going to show you a screen shot from one of my blogs for the last 30 days so you can see what has happened in the last 24 hours. I just implemented this system on this blog so it is very compelling. I also want you to have some visual proof of what I am saying.

Up until today this site has been consistently getting about 600+ unique views per month. Today alone it will have somewhere in the neighborhood of 150 or 4500 unique views per month. Think that will have any effect on whether or not I make money blogging with this site? The reason I am showing you this site is so you can see the implementation of this strategy will literally sends a lot of traffic to your site in an incredibly short amount of time. For the record this site is located at http://www.healthyabundantliving.com. What is really cool is that the traffic this site gets from this strategy is very targeted to the exact niche and you will see what I mean in a few minutes.

So the question becomes how did we pull this feat off? And for free? As I said before necessity is the mother of invention. I was out of money to spend on any more “Push Button Miracles” and so I had to discover a solution that would be low cost and effective. My first foray into this area put me in touch with some very good and also cheap sources of traffic and I was definitely making a profit but it was still costing me money on the front end and my cash flow was not good at all. So I started to dig and here is what I found.

Traffic Tool #1 To Make Money Blogging

There is a free tool called Network Publisher. It essentially does the same thing as OnlyWire, except it is free. It will post your content to all the social networks you are registered to. Total setup time is about 15 minutes if you already have your social sites in place. If you need to setup your social sites you are probably looking at more like 2-3 hours but well worth the time spent. Back to how is the traffic targeted. With Network Publisher you can designate which social sites and which profiles you want to post to, so if you have a profile for weight loss on Delicious and another profile for Forex Trading then you can filter which profile you want to post too. Also you can choose to only post excerpts from your post to entice the reader to visit your blog. They service over 25 of the top social sites on their platform and it is all free. As a side note, just so you don’t think that Only Wire would be easier since it is a paid service, you would still have to setup all your social networks to use that too. As someone who has used both I can assure you there is no difference in either service except of course the free part. Imagine posting on your blog and having it automatically posted to 25 social sites and the traffic that can come from that. Mind you I am not some guy that has a following of thousands of people. In fact I would guess my following is probably more in the low hundreds, at best. So if you are worried that you have no following and this will not work for you, well that is just not true. It will work. It does work. Another benefit of this plugin is that you can use it to send older posts to your networks so if you have existing posts on your blog and want to gain them visibility then just update and post to Network Publisher. Oh and I just remembered that you can also set this plugin to do all of this automatically for you so if you want to use this as an auto-blog application you can.

Traffic Tool #2 To Make Money Blogging

This is another really cool tool to make money blogging. It is called Repost.Us and can also be found in your WordPress Plugins page. Repost.Us is essentially a syndication tool, that also allows you to use a custom signature in your byline. Not only does it syndicate your content but it also allows the reader to repost your content all over the web. This is awesome for generating traffic and talk about targeted, can you say unbelievably targeted? Your post will literally be syndicated across 100′s if not 1000′s of blogs that are all in your niche. Once again a completely free tool.

Traffic Tool #3 To Make Money Blogging

This tool I added in not because I necessarily think it drives a ton of traffic but because it brings relevant and timely content to my blog. It is called Google New Just Better and as the name suggests it is better than using the RSS feeds from Google news. You see with a Google News RSS feed you are never really sure what you are going to get. With this plugin you only get relevant “Keyword targeted” news sent to your blog. The really neat thing about this tool is that you just insert a widget into your sidebar and it runs as a scrolling newswire on all relevant posts from Google news right to your blog. We all know Goggle loves Google so it is my guess that they may smile kindly on me for using their feed in this way and as a result may get some additional boost in the SERPS as a result. The coolest thing is though that it does not matter whether Google likes my blog or not. I just checked the numbers for Healthy Abundant Living, the site you have the screen shots for, and as I have been writing this article I have an additional 20 or so visits to that site. I just use this tool to bring a better experience to my readers and I believe it will add value to their visit with us. So I guess I am saying you can use this tool or not. I don’t believe it will effect the outcome of your traffic generating efforts to any great degree.

There is also a way to completely automate this whole process and be literally hands off but I will save that for another day as this post is already quite long and I want you to be able to digest what I have presented here. Also I would really appreciate your comments on this, not the spam comments but the real ones…lol. One benefit I did not even mention is the Backlinks you are building through this entire process. Everytime you post through Network Publisher you build a backlink and evertime you post goes out through Repost.Us with your URL in the byline of the article you build a backlink so even though you are no longer dependent on Google for traffic, these backlinks will give you Google love. I highly encourage anyone trying to make money blogging to test out this process and try to poke holes in it. Put it through the wringer as it were. I think you will be amazed at the results you get.
