Finally, it is here!

The 10 Day Give starts today! If you haven’t yet signed up and want in on it, you still can – sign up here. I am excited to get started and I just about have all the days planned out. If you need any ideas for giving you can read Craig’s list of some 101 ways to give as well.

Personally, I am really excited that so many people decided to join the 10 Day Give, given the tough economic times that we are in. I think that is all the more reason to do it! God’s economy works different than the world’s system and the Bible says that, “as we give, it will be given unto us...” (Luke 6:38). Not only do we get to bless and help those around us, but we have the promise that it will come back to us! The stock market is up and down, but giving into the lives of others is always a good investment that yields returns in this life and in Heaven!

I wanted to answer a few common questions about the 10 Day Give – Starting  October 1st!…

Why are you doing it?

The main reason is that I like to maintain an attitude of giving to those around me. It is easy to get caught up in the daily grind and overlook all the people around us whose lives we can make better. By getting hundreds or thousands of you involved with us, we can have a huge impact on the world around us. I believe that just like the movie Pay it Forward suggested, little acts of kindness really do change the world.

Is this a fund-raiser for ChristianPF?

Not at all, this is not about giving to ChristianPF. It is all about giving to people in your sphere of life – making the lives of those around you better. In fact, ChristianPF gives stuff away to random 10 Day Givers, so it is like the opposite of a fund-raiser. icon wink 10 Day Give – FAQ

What if I don’t have money to give?

Give your time or anything you have that can be translated into value to someone else. Get creative. There is a lot more that you can give other than money.

Do I have to sign up?

Nope, you don’t have to, you could do it on your own. But, isn’t it so much more fun being part of a group that is all working towards a common goal?

What else can I do to help?

  • Let your friends know about it
  • Write about it on your Facebook page, twitter page or website
  • Put a banner or badge up on your website (Get one here)

Helpful Tips for completely your 10 Day Give

  • Start saving ASAP – it will be a lot easier to give if you have money saved up in advance.
  • Fill your wallet up with cash, so you can always dole out some cash if you need to…
  • I love giving to strangers on the street, but sometimes they can be freaked out. So, proceed with caution!
  • If you think your giving could freak someone out, do it anonymously. This can be very fun. You can almost turn it into a James Bond type challenge not to get caught!
  • Plan out your giving in advance, but be ready when a moment of inspiration strikes.

I got a challenge for you. Could you give something, each day, to a different person, for 10 days? Do you think you are up for it? I hope you are.

What the 10 Day Give is all about

The thing is, I think most people really want to make other people’s lives better, but with everything going on all around us all hours of the day, we just don’t get a chance. This is an opportunity to choose, on purpose, to give of ourselves. There really are hundreds of opportunities that we overlook each day. My goal is to just grab hold of one of them each day.

For some people that means giving money, for others time is far more precious than money, and for others it may mean their gifting or expertise in an area. But, no matter who you are, we all have something to give.

It could be taking someone out to lunch, it could be babysitting for an overworked mom, it can as simple as giving your precious time by taking your mom to the park to talk. There are no rules, no judges, and no right or wrong ways of completing the challenge.

But, I encourage you to sign up for the challenge and decide to give whatever you can – it’s only for 10 days. And who knows, maybe it will become a habit.

You can do it whenever, but we are going to be doing it as a group from October 1st – 10th, so we would love it if you would join us!
